The Lord worked among us at our last concert of prayer. I really enjoyed being able to be there with many of you from Lake Hills. But you must know I am not the sensei of concerts of prayer. It was my being able to serve alongside Neil Gilliland where I learned what a concert of prayer was and could be.
That’s why I’m excited that Neil will be joining us for our next concert of prayer on Sunday, November 19 at 6pm. He’ll be leading the prayer time and I plan on leading the songs from the piano.
You may notice that the 19th is the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I hope to spend some time in thanks to our great God for who He is and what He’s done in our lives. The time of prayer is great for singles, couples, or families. It’s wonderful for young people or old people.
If you’ve never been to a concert of prayer, read this post where I explain what it’s like and this one where I reflected on the first one we had.
About Neil
Neil Gilliland has been a friend of mine and Lynsey since we were dating. He led our pre-marital counseling. We were able to serve on the staff of a Christian leadership conference for teenagers for several years. He has been a personal counselor in times of distress and has led many people closer to the Lord through concerts of prayer. He’s from Slocum Station, OH and he and his wife served as missionaries in the Ivory Coast for several years. He recently retired (again) from Director of Member Care at IM inc., the missions agency of the denomination Lynsey and I were raised in. Many care for Neil deeply. My family is excited he’ll be joining us. I hope you’ll make it a point to be there if at all possible.
Note to Life Group Leaders: dear friends, if this falls on a date you’ve already scheduled your life group, I am so sorry. I know that’s my fault. If you’d like to keep your LG meeting, go ahead. Or, as an alternative, you may consider going to the Concert of Prayer and sitting close as a LG and then perhaps going to dinner or ice cream afterward to share your experiences.
