A Guest Post From Katarina Petkey

To all the Moms at Lake Hills,

Happy Mother’s Day week!

Whatever season of life you’re in right now know that the One who knitted your child and or children in your womb still has them and you in his good and sovereign care and he’s not relinquishing his throne anytime soon. He’s constantly pursuing you and your greatest good for his ultimate glory. He chose you to be a mother and he doesn’t make mistakes. He sees you, he loves you and will sustain you now and forevermore.

Some days are easy and some days or even years can be incredibly hard. God just asks one thing, that you would daily depend on him for all things. To come daily to the altar and surrender all. And he will meet you there, with a peace that surpasses all understanding. And you’ll hear him whisper, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matt 11:28, 30).

Perhaps you feel overwhelmed today but I don’t want you to forget you are also overwhelmingly loved by your Heavenly Father, your Redeemer and the Friend who sticks closer than a brother. God cannot fail and therefore he cannot fail you. However, your strength, your best efforts and knowledge will at some time or another fail you.

So, if feel like you’re in a season of ceaseless striving know you don’t have to anymore. You can place your life and the lives of your children at the very feet of Jesus. He can handle the weight of it all because he has carried so much more. He took on the very sin and shame of the world upon his shoulders, dying a gruesome death on a Cross to take this broken, fallen, heartbreaking world and make it new again. He lived the perfect life we never could. He offers us grace and forgiveness and we can be covered by his righteousness if we accept his free gift of salvation.

No matter the season you’re in as a mom, God is ready and waiting to meet you in it. He stands with arms outstretched, wanting so much for you to know the joy, the peace and the hope that he can transform your life with. You see, when you surrender your life to Jesus Christ you can’t be the same person, you are forever changed and your eternity is secure.

To the moms that may be burdened with regret for past choices, know that your sin and shame died with Christ and on the third day he arose victorious over sin and the grave! Forgiveness is yours, the past is truly gone! There is freedom that has been won for you and you can claim it right here and now.

This life will only get harder and the storms so much worse. If you choose Christ today, this hour, perhaps this very moment, you will find yourself standing on a firm foundation. You’ll have an anchor in the storms to come. Or you can trust in anything and everything else and be at the mercy of whatever this life brings.

My dear ones,

It is not too late, there is still time. Put your faith and trust in Christ alone and I promise you will say

The anchor holds.

The anchor holds.

Praying this passage of scripture over you.

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:14-19
