Lake Hills, our brother and Deacon Chairman John Petkey will soon be moving to Nashville, Indiana. He has purchased a home there and, Lord willing, is closing on it in mid-October. He doesn’t have a move date yet, but he will be leaving us soon. John said ever since he was younger he has wanted to move out of “The Region,” and he figured that if he was ever going to do it, now was the time. John owned his own business for a while until he sold it and started serving Lake Hills thoroughly thereafter. We are going to miss John’s service to the Lord. He has done many, many things for our church that no one will ever know about. That is his heart, and he has been a great blessing to us. He has been one of the unsung heroes of Lake Hills since his arrival.
One thing I appreciate about John is his willingness to pray. He has always been willing to stop whatever he was doing and pray for me or for anything that needed prayer. Another characteristic I appreciate about John is his generosity. He is generous with his time, wisdom, and resources.
Being the chairman of the Deacons at Lake Hills is a big task. It requires much prayer, patience, and wisdom. John was nominated by the deacons and agreed to serve in that role a little reluctantly. But he has done well.
Perhaps what I most appreciate about John is his heart. He has a tender heart to the Lord. I am going to miss him.
John, thank you for serving the Lord at Lake Hills! You’ve been a blessing to me and to our church family. May the Lord go before you and give you great peace and joy in this next season of your life. You will always have a place here.
