A new ministry is starting this summer: a team of people to help create content for Lake Hills Baptist Church.
Social media is a little bit like the yellow pages of today. The Yellow Pages was a giant book that magically arrived at your door full of the names and numbers of every business known to mankind. Wanted to find a new pizza place? Google didn’t exist and neither did smart phones. How did you find it? You opened up the behemoth of a book that killed 14 trees in order to exist–the Yellow Pages. Then you used the index at the top under the word “pizza,” found one close to you based on the address (which you were familiar with instinctively I guess), then called them on the phone to order a pizza. It was sheer madness.
Today if you want some pizza, you probably don’t even realize that you’re talking about it to someone, then magically an ad for a new pizza place pops up on your social media feed. Or, someone you follow on social posts a picture or video of them eating the pizza and you’re intrigued enough to go try it yourself.
How do people find a church who are looking for one? They will probably google it, get an advertisement on their phone, or see someone they follow on social post something about their church and then google it.
Social Media for Lake Hills
Enter: our Social Media Team. This team will be working together to create content for our social media channels. They will divide and conquer to attend events, classes, gatherings, what-have-you, all the while taking pictures or making videos. The fabulous Jen Young will be working to lead this team and manage the scheduling of posts and whatnot on our channels.
“What does this have to do with me?” you ask. It has much to do with you. Well, some. Here it is.
- Follow our channels! We have Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Go there and follow, people! 🙂
- Spread the love. Share our content, check in on Facebook on Sunday mornings, post a Google review, etc. (Our “official” hashtag is #LHBC.)
- Make your own content! Take a selfie or two with some friends at women’s Bible study. Upload a short video of worship and tag us. Share a verse you heard or that resonated with you. Your voice really helps magnify what our church’s channels are trying to do! (Be sure to use the #LHBC hashtag when you do!)
Thanks for playing a part in this!
