A Burden on My Heart and An Opportunity

I am happy and content. This comes from knowing God through Jesus Christ. God is everything to me. Knowing Him has been so good. Many of you know exactly what I’m talking about because you’ve tasted and seen.

But maybe some of you don’t know this contentment. And I know all of us have people in our lives that don’t have this contentment through a relationship with God as our Heavenly Father.

For those of you that know this contentment, can you imagine what life might be like without Him? The pandemic has been difficult enough on us. Can you imagine the fear, uncertainty, anger, and confusion you might be feeling if we didn’t have Jesus?

A Way to Share

I want us to share the contentment we have in Jesus with those who don’t have it. So, I’ve decided to cancel our normal Wednesday night adult class and prayer time for seven weeks from October 27–December 8 to host a course called “Life Explored.”

Life Explored is an informal and relaxed seven-week series for anyone who wants to find contentment and happiness in life. We’ll have it at our church on Wednesday nights from 7-8 for seven weeks straight. It doesn’t matter if you don’t consider yourself to be religious, and you don’t have to know anything about the Bible. Folks can ask any questions they like, or just sit and listen.

Each week we’ll watch a few videos that share the main content and then talk about some questions from the Bible about why contentment and happiness is so hard to find, and ultimately how it can be found by knowing God through Jesus.

Even if you’re a Christian already and want to come without a friend, that’s okay! Maybe you want to check it out and bring someone with you next time.

Personally, I’ve written a list of seven names I want to invite. I am praying for God to impress it on your hearts to invite people too.

I need to know how many people are coming so I can order enough handbooks for everyone. So, please sign up at centraloaks.com/life or at the gray table if you’re planning on coming. I hope you will.
