I’m not going to lie to you, Lake Hills. I was nervous about Sunday night. I think that’s why I was a little “off” on Sunday morning. My mind was just focused on that night. Would anyone show up? Would it be super awkward? Would anyone sign up for prayer windows? I was putting too much pressure on myself.
Talking with John Petkey that afternoon. He has a calmness about him that I appreciate. He reminded me that it’s the Lord who does the work, not me.
Fast forward to just before the concert of prayer started and Tim James and Susan Anderson saw me fidgeting with something in the south foyer. They asked if I needed something. “No, I’m just nervous,” I said. So they prayed for me. I walked into the auditorium and it was very quiet—a good sign for that kind of event, in my opinion. Then we prayed . . . a lot.
The Lord was with us, wasn’t He? There’s something about being in God’s presence with His people that makes time stand still. It was a great evening—something I was honored to be a part of. (Big thanks to Jim Huhta, BTW!) Personally, I think my favorite part was holding hands in the big circle.
Then I found out today that 98 people have signed up for prayer windows. That’s awesome! I’m so thankful for that. (My window is on Thursday, BTW.)
I’m looking forward to the first training this Sunday night. You should expect this to be quite different than last Sunday night. There’ll be some teaching and interaction and time for you all to put into practice on the spot what’s being taught. The goal is to equip all of you to pray using Scripture.
We ran out of books (I’m seeing a theme here) for the training, but we’ve ordered 25 more and will have them available, Lord willing, on Sunday. Don’t worry though–the books are encouraged but not required.
Bear one another’s burdens, and seek the Lord fervently in your prayer window. If you haven’t signed up for a prayer window, you can still do so by clicking here.
