The Lord Honors Faith

Near the end of a very dark time in my life, the Lord used a sermon from a friend based out of Hebrews 11:6-7. It reads,

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

Hebrews 11:6-7 (ESV)

One comment from my friend stood out to me and has stuck with me ever since: “Noah built the ark before he ever saw rain.”

That’s faith–acting on God’s promises before we see the fulfillment of them. He believed God would do what He said–flood the earth–so he built the ark before the rain came.

We’re seeing God do some cool things right now in our church. He’s blessing us. But why? What is it that King Jesus wants us to act on in faith based on what He’s promised us?

What about you in your personal life? What would you do right now that you’re delaying if you knew God would do what He’s promised?

The reason God hasn’t acted yet could be because He’s waiting for you (for us!) to start building the boat.
